Primer Finisher | Thermal Protectant & Shine Treatment

Honestly, I have yet to be able to tell whether this is actually protecting my hair from heat damage or not - in fact, I have only been able to tell that ONE product of the hundreds I've used make my hair look healthier after blowdrying.

In terms of scent - it's great. In terms of ease of use and the spray itself - it's SUPER easy to use. I imagine if your hands are arthritic this would be a breeze. I also love the fine even mist that it sprays out, so you really feel like it's coating each strand evenly.

Only time will tell how effective it is - My hair is pretty frizzy so I don't notice this making it any smoother, though. Heat protection is still out for debate.

I have incredibly unfortunate hair. It's the bad kind of wavy, frizzy, chemically treated and requires a lot of high heat tools to style. I am always trying new products to try and combat these struggles. I had the opportunity to order and try Epiphany's Primer Finisher, which is a heat protectant that is suitable for all hair types, and boosts shine, reduces frizz, provides nourishment to hair and protects it from heat. It does this through a really nice list of ingredients that include ceramides, vitamin e, jasmine flower extract, keratin, coconut oil, argan oil, shea butter and more. This is a 8.4 ounce spray bottle of product that can be used on dry hair. The bottle works well and is easy to spray. The instructions say to spray generously on hair. I have used it on my hair both wet and dry. This is honestly impressive, especially when used on my dry hair. After generously spraying my hair and giving it a few minutes to air dry, I come at it with 430 degree heat. This is fragranced and smells incredibly good! Before styling with a hot tool, my hair already felt so soft, and looked significantly less frizzy. After using my flat iron, my hair looked fantastic with absolutely no frizz. The frizz did not return the entire day and that's what's most impressive as my hair usually gradually returns to frizzy throughout the day. This lasted amazingly! Price-wise, it is on the higher end, but competitively priced to similar products and with quality and results that beat out much of the competition. I absolutely love it, am so glad to have discovered it and will absolutely buy it again!

This leave-in smells absolutely amazing like you just came out of the salon or spa. It leaves hair soft and smooth without any crunchy feeling or stiffness. It helps tame frizz and gives a healthy shine. The extra heat protection is much appreciated and great when using my flat iron. I like spraying a little bit right out of the shower on my damp hair and then I also spray it as I flat iron. It has a great combination of oils that do a great job of conditioning the hair without weighing it down. I like that it includes collagen and rice protein to help strengthen hair and reduce breakage. It also has argan and keratin to give a healthy shine. When flat ironing, I can definitely tell a difference, where hair lays smoother and has a healthy shine. Overall, a great value for 4 ounces with high quality ingredients that help repair the cuticle, keep hair soft, protect from heat, and add moisture.

I really like this Primer – Finisher spray by Epiphany. I am a middle aged perimenopausal woman with thinning, fine, dry, curly hair. If you look at my hair wrong it will weigh it down. This spray doesn't.

I was quite worried that this heat protectant and conditioner would weigh my hair down because of all of the oils listed in it. I've used it both on dry and wet hair, and it has not added weight either way. That is a win for me.

I like the ingredients, but I am suspect of the claim that it is a “clean” product. My biggest clue on this is that fragrance is the 7th ingredient and the all of the oils and proteins, etc are in the ingredient list after the parfum. This may be why it doesn't weigh my hair down – there may not be that much oil in it actually. And it is definitely why it smells heavenly. The scent is a kind of buttery sweet scent, like an ambery floral? I'm just throwing words out that feel right with the scent. It smells like a nice warm perfume. I love it and will forgive it claiming to be clean.

All that being said, it is not enough to keep my hair frizz free and defined on its own. On dry hair it certainly refreshed my curls and reduced frizz. But when I used it on wet hair, with a curl cream, leave in conditioner and another silk protein cream, then diffused my hair on medium, my hair was frizzy. Did it protect my hair, heat wise from the heat? I'm not sure. But I won't skip the gel while using this spray.

Another issue I have with this spray is the sprayer itself. I have to be very gentle with the sprayer, or it will shoot a stream straight through to my scalp. If I carefully push the lever only about halfway I get a bit more distribution, but I wish it had a better nozzle that made a wide spray instead of a thin stream.

Overall, I like this product and will continue to use it mostly on my dry hair to give it a bit of a refresh and before I use heat products like curling irons on it. For diffusing my hair, I will stick with my gel that has heat protection in it, but also does a better job of defining my curls and fighting the frizz. The price is about the same as other similar high-end products, so it's a decent value. I am really tempted to give it 5 stars just because of the scent, but to be responsible in my review I am giving it 4 stars because it didn't live up to the promises for diffusing my hair and the spray nozzle needs improvement.

Over few uses, my hair felt consistently manageable, and the natural oils left a soft, subtle sheen. The scent is mild and pleasant, not overpowering.

The combination of convenient packaging, fine mist, and lightweight texture makes it easy to incorporate into a regular styling routine.
